A group name is not a player account
A clan names a group in this workshop, rather than the individual player. For a concrete example of separate group fields, Bungie's Destiny 2 Clans Guide describes a Clan Name, Motto and Mission Statement as distinct culture features. That example does not establish the name or tag rules of every other game.
Reference: Bungie: Destiny 2 Clans Guide, actually read 1 November 2026. A game-specific clan screen may use different fields. This workshop does not create a clan, join one or change permissions.
Choose shared words before choosing initials
Ask the group for two or three words that represent the identity you want to discuss. Use words members are comfortable displaying publicly. The tool rearranges the words into complete group-name candidates. It does not attach an unrelated military noun, a famous team name or a fabricated founding story to make the output appear established.
A group brief is different from the personal alias task. Keep the shared identity separate from any member's login, email or private contact details. You can use the same shortlist for a conversation across several games, but the workshop does not guarantee that each destination accepts the same full name, symbols or tag format.
Inspect the full name and the proposed tag together
By default the proposed tag takes the initials of the words in a candidate. Rearranging words therefore changes both the full text and the order of initials. When words begin with the same letter, different names can still produce an identical tag. The tool counts that situation inside the current shortlist and reports it beside the affected candidates.
You can supply a tag of your own instead. It will stay the same while you compare the full-name alternatives. This is useful if a group already has a short label it wants to discuss keeping. A repeated tag in that comparison is visible as a shared label, not as proof that the site found another registered clan using it.
Understand exactly what a tag collision means here
The collision check compares only the candidates made from your current input. It does not search games, trademarks, social handles or esports rosters. A label that says no other candidate shares a tag means only that the tag is distinct within this small set. It is not a global rarity score and it does not reserve a name.
Keep the full names beside their tags while reviewing the set. If a tag makes two alternatives hard to distinguish, change a source word or type a different proposal. Do not assume that adding a number is required or officially allowed. The optional tag field accepts a small local letter-and-digit subset so the comparison remains easy to read; that is not a universal platform standard.
Make a group decision before any account action
Use a simple comparison note: full name, proposed tag, intended destination and any member objection. Read the full name aloud and check whether members can distinguish it from the tag. You do not need a generated quality rating to carry out that discussion, and the site does not pretend to measure agreement.
Choose a local full-name budget for the shortlist. It counts spaces and filters overlong candidates without truncating a shared word. Copy a complete name only after reviewing the separate tag. When you reach the destination's actual clan-creation or editing screen, check its own requirements and consequences before confirming anything. The tool cannot inspect membership, permissions or a founder's account.
Clan Name Generator questions
Does a tag collision mean another clan owns it?
No. This workshop compares tags within the current candidate set only. It does not query a game or registry.
Is the proposed tag part of the copied full name?
No. Copy buttons copy the full group name. Review the proposed tag as a separate field.
Will it create or join a clan for me?
No. The tool has no account connection and performs no creation, membership or permission change.
Are these tag and name limits official rules?
No. The workshop uses local input and display preferences. Check the actual destination's rules separately.
